French contryside and more (April 28, 2007)

Right now we are driving through the magnificent french countryside (well, our fearless leader Phil is driving us in the splitter van.) We are enroute to Saint Brieuc, to our last show in France, and the end of our European tour. There are new photos up from tour on Lauras site. I haven't had too much time to take pics, but I have been shooting alot of rolls of Super 8 film, and recording every show with a minidisc recorder. There will be a new Your Heart Breaks album soon, live from Paris. It will be out on Karl Blau's label KELP! and available through mailorder as well in a few months. Europe has treated us very well, I drank 13 beers yesterday, and feel fine today.

I'm headed back to the states on the 30th, and I'll drive to chicago to pick up Laura Veirs, Tucker Martine, Karl Blau, and Steve Moore for their US tour with LAKE. Please check out the tour dates. This is a show that will slay you. Plus you can come say hi to me at the merch table. (All night every night until june 10th... )

YHB will be recording a new album this year, its unclear when, but we are scheming to have the core band be Karl Blau, Steve Moore, Phil Elvrum, Geanvieve from Woelv, Chris Scheil from Son, and hopefully we can get Dave Matthies back up from California (if he will leave his sweet surfing shack for a week) to play some more drums and bass. In addition to this, many of the other YHB regulars will be around I hope. Fingers crossed, the album will be mixed by next january, and out on a label yet to be determined.

The next issue of In your room is sitting in my backpack awiating a good editing. Someday that will occur. It sounds like my roommates got a pingpong table when I was gone, and I can't wait to see them.

Here is a list of what happened this tour:

I met the barenaked ladies (that band from canada) in Glasgow.
We sold so many cds (over 300!), we had to have more shipped to France.
We played sold out shows in Paris, Berlin, London, Utrecht and Manchester.
The other shows were very well attended and crazy as well.
I ate alot of candy. They have gummi everything here. I got gummi fried eggs.
I ate a lot of cheese and nutella.

Steve made up a new song about eating food from gas stations off the freeway -

"And I said what about, Breakfast at BP?"

Just like that song

"I said what about, breakfast at tiffanies?"

and then I laughed to hard at that. I vote it best new song of 2007.

Also, we made a rap in the car on Karls portable 4-track.
I'll post that soon.

THINGS THAT DIDNT HAPPEN THAT I WANTED TO HAPPEN

Seeing Herman Dune on tour (DAMN!)
Seeing Tender Forever in France (DOUBLE DAMN!)
No accidental drives to Italy and Greece. (TRIPLE DAMN.)
Pet a sheep.

Oh damn! Im in Europe!

Well right now Karl Blau, Steve Moore, and I are located in Glasgow. Scotland! Can you believe it. we rocked the hell out of scotland tonight. There will be lots of movies and such, I brought 15 rolls of super 8 film and 60 mini-discs. We have been busy rocking the hell out of the UK in general. We are the support act for Laura Veirs and Saltbreakers, with our fearless tour manager Phil, we are cruising the sheep filled countryside of the UK. Its sunny and beautiful. I love it here. More to come!

South by southwest update

I got really drunk and jumped in a pool at an afterparty for that movie this is about to be realeased about riot grrrl. Its called Itty Bitty Titty Committee. At the party there were all these austin punks and we drank lots of free beer and then we went to a goth bar. Also, my music video played on a big screen and that was pretty cool.

OH MY GOSH!

02.20.07

So the latest news is so many things. I made a music video for Laura Veirs and her band. It got into South By Southwest, the film fest. Fuck YEAAAHHH!! I also made a new website for them, and the cover for their NEW RECORD Saltbreakers. It comes out in March in Europe and on April 10th in North America. Also, I just shot another music video with them that will be posted very soon..

Your heart breaks has the absolute pleasure to be able to tour Europe with Laura Veirs and Saltbreakers the whole month of April. Look at the dates on Myspace.

Right now I am in Connecticut with the Sex workers art show. I am the roadie. I carry boxes and load merch. I will be tour managing the Laura Veirs/Lake tour in May. Come visit and look at the dates here.

NEW RECORD OUT NOW!!!!

11.02.06

AHHHH! The new record is OUT!!!! yeah!!! I am so happy. Thank you Dont Stop Believin' Records. we love you.!!!! Order the record or perish. It is a sweet rock opera about these sailors that are in a ship wreck and all die. It has amazing special guests. Such as Karl Blau, Laura Veirs, Steve Moore, the Black Cat Orchestra, Tender Forever, LAKE, Palisades, Dame Dulce, and so many others. They did an amazing job.

09.29.06

Hey I updated the news earlier and then my damn computer crashed and i lost it all. So here are the basics. We have a new record coming out in a few weeks on Dont Stop Believin Records. Its called Sailor System. I am really excited to be on this local label. You should check them out. They are all over the internet and such. The record was recorded at the same time as New Ocean Waves, our last record. They go together. NOW is about the sea, and Sailor system is about the sky. We just got home from a sweet tour with Kalr Blau, Steve and Eli Moore, Laura Veirs, and Tucker Martine. Thanks so much to Laura and Karl for having Your Heart Breaks open those shows. What a treat. California was delightfully hot and I swam in pools in short shorts.

We are going on tour with June Madrona in November. Rocking the west coast, and giving some love to the California area. Check out the dates and come to the shows. We will have the new album there. See you soon. xx

08.23.06

Just had a sweet sleepover with plan-it-x records last night. Thanks for coming and spending the night guys and gals. That was a delightful morning. Whats new? I'm still obsessed with the Tender Forever record. But guess what. Now you can

Buy our records and movies online!

07.12.06

Hey. We are in pittsburgh. It's raining. Karl is crying No! from the other room. I dunno whats going on. I'm giving him some chips. It's gonna be ok. We played here after This Bike is a Pipe Bomb last night. This is our first real day off in 4.5 weeks. No driving, no practice, no show. What a damn relief.

[plan-it-x band: Greg harvester, Karl Blau, Ali Haimson, Matty pop chart, erin tobey, paul baribeau, theo zumm, jacob from kickball]

Tour has been going really well with karl blau. We had a nine person band at PIX fest. It was epic. In other news, karl is back in anacortes for heck fest and yesterday I rode up a really long hill. All the way up. I must have been feeling really fucked up to have made it the whole way. Sometimes you just gotta hug yourself. And listen to Tender Forever. That helps alot. I love it when Melanie says "We should...make out in my heart."

05.16.06

Hello from Philly. Where the streets are narrow, this club is like a shotgun shack, and its 500 hundred degrees inside and 40 outside. And everyone is crazy. Our new record is done and available on plan-it-x records, and I'm on tour road crewing with laura veirs , karl blau, steve moore, and eric eagle. What a fucking sweet crew this is. We had a rad show in New York last night. It was awesome and successful. Ill be heading out soon for two months with Karl Blau on a national tour. See you soon.

04.04.06

Well, we did it. We spent all day with the guy that used to road manage the Steve Miller Blues Band. Hes a joker, a smoker, and a midnight toker.  And he's a really nice guy who is fucking good at his job.  Which is mastering records. Which is why we spent all day with him.  Does anyone remember that show Coach?  He looks like the coach.

And actually, he mastered two records for us.  One that's coming out (as a three way split on Plan-it-X Records, MASA Records, and my wallet records) in a few weeks, and one with an unknown future home, sadly because it is full of hits.  We also mastered for double vinyl, so if all goes well, and we strike it rich and get a grant, we'll be able to press a double record some day.

Our severly awesome friend Meghan in olympia is working on the album art. Get ready for some sick shit. And last night we played at the college in bellingham and had an hour and a half jam session/split set with Karl Blau and Steve Moore. It was guitar solos and guest vocals.

We are still really busy playing local northwest shows and booking a national tour in conjunction with K records musician/fellow bandmate Karl Blau, so if you want to know where we are playing, or can help us get a show, then check out the shows page and also look at:

myspace.com/yourheartbreaks
myspace.com/karlblau

Also, you might not know that I do alot of freelance web design and tshirt design. Check it out. I just made new shirts for Laura Veirs, and a new one for Jesse Sykes. I'm working on a new site for Tucker Martine. Should be up in a few weeks. Pretty exciting people.

Also, look for me on the road with Laura Veirs and company in May, all around the USA.I'll be behind the merch table. Smiling.

01.27.05

Happy Pee my pants day! Karl, Cali, and Ciel just brought by the mixes for the new YHB album(s). They are off now on a tour down the coast with little wings. Better go and check out the shows and buy Karl Blau's new album. It is so awesome.

01.17.06

Hey peops, im about to launch out onto the road again. Roadie party '06 will be in full swing in a few weeks with the sex workers art show and then I think again with Laura Veirs and those wacky Tortured souls. Be sure to check the dates on those pages and see when I'll be in a town near you. Been wearing myself thin workin on a few new t-shirts for bands, as well as some new websites you can visit on the inter-web... I'll post those URLs soon when things are looking ship shape.

In other news, Karl Blau and I spent the last 2 weeks recording at Dub Narcotic Studios in Olympia Washington. Your Heart Breaks has an crazy new album with over 30 guest musicians on board. It's geting mixed this weekend in Anacortes!!! Get excited, it sounds like a party. A Fucking Awesome Party. With Drugs. Lots of Drugs. And then some moments of clarity also. If anyone reading this has alot of money they want to send us for mastering, or a really fancy record label that wants to put out this new record, send an email our way. [serene@yourheartbreaks.com] Take care.

12.12.05

Whoa, check out this crazy thing I used to do.

In other news, I spent the day tinkering on a promo for SAW II, coming out this halloween. Looks scary... (Your heart breaks does not endorse SAW II). Weve got a few shows coming up in seattle and bellingham, so check out the shows page yo. We are playing with dennis driscoll, karl blau, a heartless solution, and even damion jurado.

09.19.05

Hello hello. Oh my gosh, your heart breaks just returned from the funnest tour ever. We drove around with What the kids want & Madeline, both from Bloomington, Indiana. Thank you to everyone who helped with the shows, danced, and gave us warm places to sleep. Also, thanks so much to kids at the ALF House for showing us the best bar in Vancouver, and possibly the world. At this bar I completed a life long goal of singing Walk This Way on karaoke and got hit on by a 35 year old, married with child, travel agent.

Hey, its the fall and its kinda getting cold. whats up with that? I just got an ice cream maker. This morning first thing I made mint chocolate chip ice cream, and also chocolate too. It is soo tasty. I really encourage getting an ice cream maker for yourself. Totally worth it. There is not a rough cut of the zombie film Dennis Driscoll and i are shooting online so you cant check it out. It's a music video for his new album, so the music on it right now is the wrong song, but you get the idea. We still have some more shooting to do, but it is coming along. I've been busy doing a bunch of stop animation stuff for the MTV trailers for the new Tim Burton film, the Corpse Bride. The other day we spent 15 hours animating these vines so that they bust through an add for the Real World and then form a cool frame around the Corpse footage. It looks really cool. I wish I watched tv so i could see it on air, but I don't like tv. My friend Laura Veirs just left for tour for 6 weeks. She is rad and you should totally check out her shows in the US and in Europe. In november I'll be out as a roadie with them for the western part of tour, so come say hi at those shows. A new issue of In Your Room is out and will be available on tour and through mail order. It comes with a copy of the new album. Also, be sure to look at the video clip of Kanye West slamming Bush on live tv. It is amazing.
